Tallow on its own is already incredible for the skin. It’s one of the closest things to our own natural oils, which is why so many people notice calmer, softer, more predictable skin when they switch to it. But pairing tallow with the right plant oils takes it to another level. It becomes richer, more supportive, and honestly… just feels better on the skin.
Not every oil belongs in skincare, and not every oil plays nicely with tallow. Some oxidize fast, some clog pores, and some irritate sensitive skin. But a handful of oils actually enhance what tallow already does so well. These are the oils I chose for my formula — and exactly why they made the cut.
Why Add Oils to Tallow at All?
Tallow is deeply nourishing, but adding the right oils helps with things like:
-
extra antioxidants
-
better absorption
-
a softer, whipped texture
-
more support for irritated or aging skin
-
a little extra “boost” for the skin barrier
It’s not about complicating the formula. It’s about elevating it — just enough to make it even more effective while still keeping it simple and whole.
Pomegranate Seed Oil
This one is a powerhouse. Pomegranate seed oil is rich in something called punicic acid, which is amazing for calming inflammation and supporting elasticity. It’s lightweight, absorbs beautifully, and brings a deep, restorative quality to the blend.
It’s especially helpful for irritated, aging, or barrier‑damaged skin. This is one of the reasons Bare Intent feels so soothing.
Carrot Seed Oil
Carrot seed oil is one of those quiet ingredients that does a lot behind the scenes. It’s packed with antioxidants and nutrients that help the skin look brighter, softer, and more even.
It supports the skin’s natural renewal cycle without being harsh or irritating. It’s gentle, earthy, and pairs perfectly with tallow.
Helichrysum (Immortelle)
Helichrysum is one of the most calming botanicals you can use. It’s known for helping with redness, irritation, and overall skin healing. It’s the ingredient that makes your skin feel like it can finally exhale.
When blended with tallow, it creates a deeply soothing, comforting balm — especially for sensitive or reactive skin.
Ginger CO₂ Extract
This isn’t the same as ginger essential oil. CO₂ extract is richer, gentler, and more skin‑friendly. It brings warmth, circulation, and antioxidant support.
It helps the skin look more vibrant and alive, and it adds a grounding, earthy depth to the formula.
Lemongrass Oil
Lemongrass gives the formula a clean, fresh scent without using synthetic fragrance. It also has natural antimicrobial properties and a gentle toning effect.
Just a touch is enough to brighten the whole blend.
Why I Don’t Use Seed Oils Like Sunflower, Safflower, or Grapeseed
A lot of “natural” skincare brands use seed oils because they’re cheap and easy to source. But they’re high in linoleic acid, which oxidizes quickly and can actually make irritation worse.
Oxidized oils = inflammation, breakouts, and barrier damage.
Your skin barrier needs stability, not oils that go rancid easily. That’s why I stick to stable, antioxidant‑rich oils that support the skin instead of stressing it.
Why This Blend Works So Well
Every oil in my formula was chosen intentionally. Not because it sounded trendy. Not because it was cheap. But because it works with tallow — not against it.
Together, they create a moisturizer that:
-
repairs the skin barrier
-
calms irritation
-
supports elasticity
-
nourishes deeply
-
absorbs beautifully
-
feels luxurious without fillers
It’s simple. It’s whole. And your skin can tell the difference.
Final Thoughts
Tallow is already one of the most skin‑compatible moisturizers you can use. But when you pair it with the right oils — oils that are stable, nutrient‑dense, and deeply supportive — you create something even better.
A formula that feels grounding. A formula that repairs instead of irritates. A formula your skin recognizes and welcomes.
That’s why I chose these oils. That’s why Bare Intent works the way it does.
